The Last Two Weeks in a nut shell!

We've been very busy at our house, hence the lack of blogging! I haven't even had time to check in on my favorite bloggers! (which is one of my favorite pastimes!) We had our big Obama party, which was not quite what I thought it was going to be, to say the least! My sister Jean was nice enough to take the kids right before the party so we had time to get the house in order...and then she kept them for a few days! Jud and I were hoping to have a nice quiet weekend together...but he got sick! So it was a quiet weekend, I laid around watching bad, made for tv movies and he slept...Yup pretty fun! Actually I think we both caught up on some well needed rest!

Once we picked up the kids, we had a crazy week of school shopping and a back to school fair. Then once again we started getting ready for another party this time it was Jud's family. We had his Mom's entire family from all over the U.S. here for a reunion! It was a really great weekend with everyone! We saw people we haven't seen in years, and a few we had never met before. I may write about that later when I have more time...but check this gang out! It almost resembles a family photo from my side!

And these ones of the girls with their Bubbie!

Today I'm getting the bags packed to head back up to the cottage for one last hurrah before school starts! I can't believe it, in two weeks all four kids will be in school! Whatever will I do with myself?

Dreams....

While I was pregnant, I always had strange dreams... and then while we were waiting for Emma, the dreams returned...well, even though we've only officially been waiting for two months they've started once again...Do they mean anything? Probably not, but they have started my nesting hormones!

I swore that this time while we were waiting for our refferal I wouldn't complain or obsess about how long it was taking. Not an easy thing to do. But it feels selfish for me to complain about the wait, while I sit here in my nice house, with my four beautiful healthy children, while right now a family in Ethiopia is sufferring from the effects of horrible drought...disease, famine, malnutrician. Being faced with impossible tasks like trying to feed their children or find clean water.

I have nothing to complain about. What else can I say?

And then there's Auntie Mim!

Oh, I can't believe we have to return her in five more days! I think she may mysteriously miss her flight! Actually the kids are trying to talk her into just staying, and living here with us! Not a bad idea I say! We'll work on it!

So this week with Miriam has been crazy! I don't know if I can say fun, because I'm sure most of what we do in this house on a day to day basis is not really any 16 year olds idea of fun! But I think she's having a few laughs! Well, maybe trying to go shopping with 4 kids and then having to leave the store with 2 of them screaming, wasn't the brightest moment but there have been some!

We've been spending lots of time at the pool...so it's not all bad!

The big three have swim lessons so that gives Mim, Emma and I some time to hang out poolside! Which of course Mim does while studying for her SATs! Talk about dedication!

And we also went to the State Fair this weekend! Hey Miriam, you can't say we never brought you anywhere! Jud and Miriam (well all of us really) were quite disappointed in the fair! They are sure that MN fair is so much better! But, can you get a banana dipped in chocolate and sprinkles at the MN fair?

Well, if nothing else Bruce, I think we convinced her to wait until she's 40 to have kids!!!

More Summer Fun!

We sure loved having Caitlin visit last week! We were pretty busy so the week went by really quickly!

When it was time for us to return Caitlin to her own family, first we decided to make a stop at Bay Beach for one last fun filled day together! This was probably our third trip to Bay Beach this summer...the kids love the rides and they're still only 25 cents! You just can't beat it! As it turns out, Sam and Caroline are the adventurous ones of the bunch, they love the ferris wheel and the tilt-a-whirl! Jack, not so much! We have learned he doesn't quite have the stomache for spinny rides! And Emma, well she pretty much likes to stick to the carousel, there's a pink bunny of course!

Here they are chasing the seagulls! We had to end this game because Jack came really close to actually catching one!
